This creamy strawberry milkshake is the perfect drink for a hot summer day . Made with fresh strawberries this milkshake guarantees you pure strawberry flavour with each sip.
If I had a create a list of my favourite summer drinks, milkshakes will definitely be included in the list. What’s not to love about this thick cold, creamy and frothy drink. Especially on the really hot days when water quite doesn’t cut it.
What I love about this drink is that there are no set measurements. It is all down to personal preference. Plus they are also so easy to make and can be made quickly.
Ingredients for the Creamy Strawberry Milkshake
Ice cream– Get some good quality ice cream. You want to have a good base for your milkshake and for it to taste good. Using high fat ice creams will most definitely give you that. You can also use a vegan or dairy free vanilla ice cream.
Strawberries– Choose strawberries that are bright and red. They should also be red or pink in the middle. They have the best flavour and are sweet. If strawberries or not in season or you live in a country where fresh strawberries are not easily available, froen berries can be used.
Homemade Strawberry Syrup– Add more strawberry flavour to your milkshake by adding this homemade syrup. This addition is optional, but I would totally recommend it.
Full fat milk & double cream– The best milkshakes are the ones made with full fat milk. This is a fully indulgent drink with no calorie counting in sight, so semi skimmed, skimmed or half fat milk are not welcome. For an ultra rich milk shake use milk and cream. If you want a really thick milkshake, then use only cream. Almond or coconut milk can be used for a dairy free version.
How to make the Strawberry Milkshake
You do not need any special equipment to make this shake. Either a blender or smoothie maker will do. First soften your ice cream by placing it in the fridge for about 20 minutes. This makes it it easy scoop and ensures that you don’t add more milk than is needed. If using a blender add your milk first. It will get the blender mixing quickly. With a smoothie maker, add the milk last. Now it’s time to blend. Keep an eye on the consistency. This is a recipe where you have creative freedom. Use less milk for a thicker shake, add more for a thinner shake. To serve pour into a chilled glass. If you are feeling creative, dip the rim of the glass into strawberry sauce and then dip into freeze dried strawberries.
